A pony OC is defined by four things: the kind of pony, the coat color, the mane, and the cutie mark. Those choices carry over directly to a human version, which is how the Equestria Girls films present the characters: colorful skin, big bright hair and an outfit that echoes the mark.

This maker draws people, not ponies. It is a good way to plan your OC's palette and to make the human-style version. Coat color becomes the skin tone, and the Star sticker stands in for a cutie mark.

Kind of pony

The kind changes what you add.

Earth pony: no extras. Put the effort into mane and outfit.
Pegasus: add Angel wings or Fairy wings and recolor them with the accessory color.
Unicorn: there is no single horn part, so suggest magic with a Crown, a Star sticker and a Sparkle eye.
Bat pony: Bat wings, Fang and Sharp eyes.

Coat and mane colors

Pony palettes are saturated and friendly. Pick the coat first with the skin color picker: lavender, mint, butter yellow, sky blue. Then choose a mane color that contrasts with it. A purple coat with a deep blue mane, or a yellow coat with a pink mane. Avoid making coat and mane the same color, because the character loses its outline.

The cutie mark is the story

A cutie mark shows what the pony is uniquely good at. Decide it in words before drawing it: baking, map making, storm chasing. Then echo it in the outfit. A baker gets warm colors and an apron-like Dress. A weather pony gets cloud whites and blues. The mark gives the OC a purpose, which is what separates a character from a color scheme.
