Splatoon Character Maker

Splatoon characters are built from four things: tentacle hair in a loud ink color, a black mask marking around the eyes, pointed ears, and street fashion. Get those four and the character reads as an Inkling or Octoling at once.

This maker has a matching part for each. The Eye mask in black gives the marking around the eyes, Elf ears give the points, and the hair can be any ink color. It opens on Hair.

Inkling or Octoling

The two are told apart mostly by hair and eyes.

• Inkling: hair in two long tentacles or a short crop. Use Twin tails or Short. The eye mask joins across the nose.
• Octoling: thicker, curled tentacles. Use Curly fringe with Space buns or Long wavy.
• Both: Elf ears, a Fang for the pointed teeth, and an eye color that matches or contrasts with the ink.

Ink color is everything

In the games, a character's hair is their ink color, and it changes with the team. Pick one saturated color: orange, cyan, pink, lime, purple or yellow. Then choose a background in the opposing team's color, so the character pops the way they do in a match. The Sunburst background suits the series' energy.

Gear: headgear, clothes, shoes

Characters wear three pieces of gear, and fans plan the set carefully. For headgear, use Headphones or a Beanie. For clothing, the T-shirt, Hoodie or Open jacket all fit the street style. Shoes get their own bright color: Sneakers or Boots. Keep the clothes simpler than the hair, since the hair is the star.
